Tomsk State University (TSU) is the oldest university in Russian Asia, in Siberia, that was founded in 1878 in Tomsk, Russia. TSU, as a research university, sees its mission as preserving and enhancing spiritual values of humanity in the production and dissemi- nation of progressive knowledge and information, and in the advanced training of the intellectual leaders of society based on integration of the educational process with fundamental scientific research and innovative approaches.

Today, TSU is involved in the Russian academic excellence project, the goal of which is to maximize the competitive position of a group of leading Russian universities in the global research and education market. Therefore, the university is interested in differ- ent kinds of collaboration with other universities and international institutions in order to conduct breakthrough research.
