During the webinar “Managing Regional Innovation Ecosystems” delivered on 12 December 2017, Alasdair Reid, Senior Policy Advisor of the European Commission, the OECD, the World Bank, the Nordic Council of Ministers, and Christian Saublens, Former Executive Manager of EURADA, the European Association of Development Agencies, discussed new emerging methods for the mapping of regional innovation ecosystems (including the context of the smart specialisation process) as well as outlining new policy approaches that can help strengthen regional innovation systems. They also discussed how to handle the mismatch between the offer of public support and the entrepreneurs’ expectations, in order to set-up a more conducive policy innovation environment for Companies, including a more effective interaction between Universities and SMEs.
