The University of Calabria is the second among the big universities in Italy (ansa.it). The University has an established international reach and reputation with about 180 international agreements with both European and non-European universities worldwide, more than forty countries represented and an active involvement in European and international projects. In fact, apart from the participation in programmes co-financed by the European Union, the University of Calabria has established contacts with international organisations such as the United Nations (e. g. FAO, UNESCO), and OECD.

It is the origin of the so-called ‘Italian Silicon Valley’
(borsaitaliana.it), which still holds an attraction for both SMEs and MNEs and it is endowed with a well-recognized technology transfer division, which generated an increase of the quantity and quality of collaboration among the university, the industry (at both the local and national and international levels) and the government (at both the local and national and international levels).

Hülya ÜNLÜ works as an Assistant Professor Dr at Cankiri Karatekin University in Turkey. She received a BSc degree in Econometrics from Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey. She holds an MSc degree in Financial Economics and Econometrics from University of Essex, UK. She has a PhD degree in Banking and Finance from Yildirim Beyazit University, Ankara, Turkey. She was appointed to Cankiri Karatekin University in 2011, and from 2017 was a Research Assistant in the Department of Economics, assisting in both Econometrics and Financial Economics courses. Later she continued to work as an Assistant Professor in the same department from 2017 to present. Her research interests in Econometrics are in the areas of microeconometrics and Panel data analysis. She has special interest on innovation Economics. Her PhD dissertation is related to financial constraints on innovation activities: Revealed and Deterring Barriers. Her publications are mostly about obstacles on innovation, corruption and innovation relationships, and obstacles on finding venture capital opportunities. She has attended numerous international conferences to present papers around the world. She had keynote talks about obstacles to innovation in international conferences. She has served on the Editorial Board of the Cankiri Karatekin University Journal of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences from 2017, and has served as Co-Head of the Economics Department at Çankırı Karatekin University from 2016 to 2018.

Josep Miquel Pique is the President of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), and Executive President of La Salle Technova Barcelona. He holds Engineering degrees from La Salle and UPC, and MBA from the ESADE. He also holds Diplomas from MIT, UC-Berkeley and Ramon Llull University. He has been the CEO of 22@Barcelona, and CEO of the Office of Economic Growth of Barcelona. He has published in international journals and congresses and has authored three books. His current interests are in the areas of ecosystems of innovation, science parks, entrepreneurship and open innovation.

Rabeh Morrar was born in Jerusalem, Palestine, in 1981. He received the BA degree in Mathematical Applied to Economics from Birzeit University, Palestine, in 2003, and the MA in Economics from Birzeit University, Palestine, 2006, and PhD degree in Innovation Economy from Lille 1 University for Science and Technology, Lille, France. In 2011, he joined the Department of Economic, An-Najah National University, Palestine, as an assistant professor in Economics, and in 2011, became the head of Economic Department until 2016. His current research interests include innovation networks, knowledge-based economy, economic development in developing countries, labor economy, and service economy. Dr Rabeh is a Fellow of the Economic Research Forum (ERF), Turkish Economic Research Forum, American Economic Association (AEA), Middle East Economic Association (MEEA), and European Association for Research in Services (RESER). He is a member of the Advisory Committee of Economic Statistics, Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), the Palestinian National Committee of Trade in Services, the National Team for Developing National Export Strategy, Business Innovation and Partnership Centre in Palestine, ESCWA team for ICT and innovation, and National team for Public Procurement Capacity Building Strategy. He was the recipient of the Zamaleh Research Grant, 2014; HERMES research Grant, 2015; Peace I Research Grant, 2016; and Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP) Research Grant 2017. Since 2011, Rabeh has published more than fifteen scientific papers, reports and policy papers in different disciplines related to innovation economics, Palestinian economic, trade and service economy. Since May 2018, Rabeh started a one year research visit to Northumbria University in the UK working on the Triple Helix model in social innovation.
