Biography
Dr. Christiane Gebhardt holds a master degree in Public Administration Science (University of Konstanz) and obtained her PhD from Giessen University in Political Sciences. (Thesis: Regional impact of AI and IT R&D programs in the US and Germany).
Her scientific career includes several stations: Assistant Professor at Jena University, Visiting Professor at SUNY and research stays at Bristol University, University of Bocconi, Chicago University, IPC / MIT and the Robert Schumann Centre in Florence/Fiesole.
Since 2019 Christiane holds a position in R&D Management at Drees & Sommer Switzerland AG with the responsibility for the market segment smart and sustainable city development. Since 1999 she has been with the Malik Institute in St. Gallen / Switzerland and currently holds the position of Vice President / Head Global Initiatives and is Senoir researcher at this private spin-off of the University of St. Gallen. She took part in the High Performance Cluster Commission of the German Government and was an active member in the expert team on Industry 4.0 Smart Service World at the German Academy for Science and Engineering. She is an expert for Chinese SAFEA and European DG Regional & Urban Growth. Her research is on regional innovation systems linked to Strategy, Governance and Organizational Design. She has evaluated Chinese, European and US programs addressing innovation. She carries out consulting for larger firms, SME, research organizations, clusters and technology based startups. Christiane teaches at Heidelberg University.
