Biography
Throughout his career as an architect, Terry Beaubois has been engaged in research and the application of advancing technology to architecture. He has engaged businesses, government, and education groups in these projects and research.
Since graduating from U of Michigan with a Master of Architecture degree, in 1973 Terry has consulted with NASA, Apple, Adobe and many other Silicon Valley companies. He has designed many single-family homes; and has been involved in the architecture of hotel/resort buildings, medical, and high-tech facilities in Silicon Valley and nationally.
Terry is involved in applying advanced technology to architecture through his firm Terry Beaubois & Associates, in Palo Alto, CA. He is a partner in an internet-based company, since the 1990’s, working extensively with building product manufacturers and partnering with publishers, Terry created some of the first websites, configurators, and virtual reality projects in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering and Construction) and pioneered the transition of Building Industry product information to digital formats.
In 2006, Terry founded and directed the Creative Research Lab at Montana State University, College of Arts & Architecture, and was MSU Project Director of the award-winning REHAU-Montana ecoSMART House Project. Terry returned to the SF Bay Area in 2013, and has been involved in the planning of the 2013 and 2014 AEC Hackathon events held at Facebook HQ and is currently a consulting professor in the Architecture Design Program at Stanford University.
Terry is the head of the Smart Homes Chapter at the SmartWorld Alliance (SMWA); and a “Architecture and the IoT” mentor, for a Silicon Valley Investment Accelerator.
Terry presented on “Architecture and the Internet of Things” at the June 2014 iED Conference in Los Angeles; Presented to a delegation of Chinese CEOs on technology development and transfer in Silicon Valley;
was a speaker at the European iED (immersive Education) Conference in Vienna, Austria in November 2014; and was a speaker for the September 2015 European iED Conference IMMERSION, in Paris.
Terry has just returned from a 6 week tour of India meeting with business, government, and education groups and individuals and hopes to apply TH principles to US-India projects and research.
