Areas of organisational competence and expertise in TH research and practice

The Department of Economics and Management (Dipartimento di Scienze per l’Economia e l’Impresa – DISEI) was established in 2013 as the natural heir to the Faculty of Economics and Commerce, founded in 1935. DISEI is currently made up of more than 100 Professors and Researchers, supported by dedicated technical and administrative staff, together with research staff such as PhD students and research fellows and contractors.
The main object of DISEI’s research concerns theoretical and empirical fields relating to all areas of economic and business sciences, also with the contribution of agricultural, mathematical, geographical, legal, and historical sciences.
This multidisciplinary basis helps in entering various projects of contemporary advanced research in social sciences, and it is also a factor of strength in the provision of higher education.
DISEI is the referent department for four 3-year undergraduate degrees and five master’s degrees focusing on economic and business fields of teaching and participates in other degrees in social and statistical sciences. Parts of these degree programs are taught in English and attract numerous international students. DISEI contributes as well to various post-graduate specialist courses and to three doctorate programs. It is the administrative headquarters for the DELoS (Doctoral Program in Development Economics and Local Systems), and it is the referent for the Doctoral Program in Economics of the Tuscan universities and for the Doctoral Program in Business Administration and Management.
