Call for Papers

The First International Triple Helix Summit 2017 of the Triple Helix Association (THA) will be held on 20th – 22nd February, 2017 at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. The theme of this THA international Summit is “Accelerating the Attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Through ICT and Data”.

We invite all participants to embrace the Quadra Helix approach, and discuss the global challenges from a Multistakeholder perspective. We particularly welcome contributions that are multidisciplinary, addressing the complexity of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), proposing how ICT and Data can drive efforts to achieve these SDGs, and what role should play governments, industry, universities and civil society organisations (The Quadra Helix).

Presenters are encouraged to submit brief papers on ground breaking innovations, research and best practices in Health, Education, Environment and ICT & Data that can turn around the pace of attaining the SDGs. All papers and innovation and best practice cases will be double blind peer reviewed. Authors of accepted papers and cases will be invited to present their work at the Summit and papers and cases will be included in the programme subject to successful registration of the participating authors. Accepted papers and cases will be published in the conference proceedings that will be made available on the

  • Improving data collection and management through electronic systems
  • Enhancing ICT & data policies and standards


All paper submissions must be made electronically through the conference online submission system by 15th December, 2016.

Paper Format
The word limit is limited to 2000 words excluding references, tables, charts, graphs and figures. Please use APA referencing style, 12 point Calibri font, and structure your paper using the following headings:

  • Aim/purpose;
  • Background/rationale;
  • Research design/Innovation;
  • Outline of the underpinning regional dynamics (Triple/Quadruple/Quintuple/etc. Helix interactions);
  • Outline of the financial and support mechanism as appropriate;
  • Key outcomes / contributions including evidence of failure and success in a focus areas

If your paper is a theoretical one, please use appropriate headings. Please, do not include your name or affiliation on the document so it is ready for double blind peer reviewing.

In addition to the formal scientific sessions and the Quadra Helix Groups we invite potential participants to propose special events which are relevant and complementary to the thrust of enquiries set in our Call for Papers.
