SATHA is happy to invite scholars to a two-day workshop titled “Trans-disciplinary Approach for Community-based Research” organized on 17-18 July 2019 at University of Management and Technology, Pakistan. Community participation is a key requirement to ensure that projects succeed. Specifically, the relationship between researchers and community is necessary for any project; without this cooperation, the proverbial white elephant project will result. This workshop will challenge participants’ notion of “working for community”, through encouraging action-based participatory practices that are trans-disciplinary, translational, collaborative and critically focused on the ideas of “working with community”. The participants will also exposed to relevant methods, tools and case studies from the field and will have the opportunity to problematize the nature of their practice, and subsequently, to build toward critical, empathetic and more informed practice. The workshop aims to involve the researchers who carry out or have “a reason” to carry out community-based research work.
